Colours Designers Can’t Wait To Use This Year!
When you walk into a space the first thing that’s noticed is usually the colour. Colour really sets the the bar as far as first impression go. That’s why we wanted to see what colours some of our favourite designers are excited to use this year!
Colour: Navy Blue
Navy blue is a timeless and classic hue which looks great in your wardrobe or your home. As conservative as navy can be, it is also youthful and fun depending on the colour it is paired with. Seriously I think navy is the new ‘black’ and my favourite accent colour to use and wear these days in all its shades from deep ink to Mediterranean cool.

Colour: Light Blush Pink
There are really so many colours that I am looking forward to incorporating this year, but the one I am most excited about is the new light blush pink that is getting so much attention. It’s a beautifully soft, mature pastel representing a new found confidence, yet still so very gentle. It’s a colour that is appealing to all ages, whereas in the past it was typically reserved for little girls. It pairs beautifully with the stable warm greys that are so readily available. Combined with metallics in gold and rose gold, and using different textures with upholstery, accessories and on the walls, it sure to be the perfect hue for warm, refined and elegant spaces!
The colour I am most excited to see more of and use this year is: Rose Quartz. Although it may be a tough sell for some, I think it should be viewed as a modern colour and used in a variety of spaces both masculine and neutral. You can see it being used in the Reno & Décor booth I designed at the GTA Home Show.

Coral has always been one of my top hue picks because it’s the perfect mix of feminine pink and fiery orange. It’s been popping up in both fashion and décor trends as a colour to watch for spring, and I love the idea of splashing it onto an upcycled furniture piece to make a unique statement. I recently test drove a new coral by “Chalked Paint” on a Restore chair that I picked up for $5.00 and then added a quirky hand-painted leopard print pattern. The DIY project was easy and quick to complete, and merged my favourite colour and favourite pattern to make a personalized piece just for me!
