Celebrate with Beernog!
11/26/2015
Our friends at Drink Inc. are feeling festive! They provided us with this super beernog recipe that is sure to please. This is a lighter, less “potent” version of say a Rum and eggnog without sacrificing good flavour. The beer that’s used is totally up to you. We like to stick with Mill Street’s Vanilla Porter since most beernog recipes call for a vanilla bean and Mill Street’s Vanilla Porter is already brewed with vanilla!
What you need:
- 1 can of Mill Street Vanilla Porter
- 1L of eggnog (or 1 recipe of homemade eggnog – found below)
- cayenne pepper as garnish
- 1 punch bowl
- whisk
How to prepare:
- In the punch bowl add the litre of eggnog or already prepared homemade eggnog and 1 can (16oz) of Mill Street Vanilla Porter. Give it a little whisk to make sure it’s mixed.
- Serve into individual sized servings over ice. Top with a sprinkle of cayenne pepper.
[Homemade Eggnog Recipe]
Ingredients:
- 4 whole eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 ½ cups whole milk
How to prepare:
- Separate egg yolks and whites. Beat the egg yolks with 1/4 cup of sugar until pale. If concerned about eating raw eggs do this in over a hot water bath. Let cool.
- Beat egg whites until soft peaks and continue beating while adding the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar.
- Take the whole milk and fold in the chilled yolk sugar mixture first. Follow by folding in the egg whites.
- Now you have homemade eggnog ready to use in the beernog recipe above!
