The tell-tale signs are here. The daylight hours are shorter and the temperatures are much cooler, which means Fall is upon us. This is the prime time of year to see an influx of wasps, hornets and yellow jackets. If you’re noticing more of them around your property, you probably have a nest nearby.
You’ll usually find them buzzing around wherever there is food, whether out in a restaurant patio or where garbage is stored. So, how do you prevent them from making a home around your own home? We asked for some advice from Danforth Home Hardware Dealer Owner Malcom Firkser.
If the wasps are becoming a nuisance, there are some products available to help you get rid of them. Remember caution should be taken because if they attack, they will sting repeatedly.
Before going after the the pests, Malcolm stresses to remember the following:
*Use the chemical products at dusk as wasps fly back into their homes at night
*Wear long pants and a long sleeved shirt
*Use a drop cloth to make clean up easier
