- For lawn care, water infrequently and well, the less you water the more the roots will grow down deeper to collect water. This results in your plants not relying on you for water all the time.
- Try Planting in self-watering containers. This is an easy project that won’t cost you much either. Try making a container like this one!
- Place mulch around your plants and give it a good water, the mulch will retain the water longer.
- If you’ve ever considered drip irrigation it might be worth installing to help with watering infrequently and well. You also won’t have to worry about using a hose! Here’s a great article to read about installing a drip irrigation system.
- For those longer times you’re away from home, being friendly with your neighbour has finally paid off! It’s the easiest solution to make sure your garden will be watered.
- Plants that have been in your garden for a longer time will not require as much care when you are away. When considering what to plant now, think of plants that once developed will be ok if they don’t get watered once a day.
- If using containers move them into a semi-shaded area while you are away.
