Designer’s Top Trends this Summer
Just in time for this heat we’ve gathered some of the season’s hottest trends! Four of our celebrated designers are sharing their favourite summer trends, from bold patterns to coloured bathtubs, we cover it all!
“I love designing with fabrics and today we are seeing fabrics trend towards much more texture and less large scale patterns. It is about layering textures and scale that create interest and luxury. Textural elements bring about a interesting dimension to any space without relying on colour. The fabrics now offer more natural organic looks with stronger weaves. Good example is several latest collections by Alendel Fabrics which offers this trend of more inviting clean natural colours like twine, hemp, graphite with lots of textural interest added.”

“There are so many elements within this image that captures my favorite parts of this year’s summer trends, from the drama of the black accents to the fun over-sized leaf pattern, to the modern wicker chairs and the large plant all tied together for an eclectic mood. I even love how dramatic flooring is playing a large part in the design concepts once again. Thanks to Mad Men bar charts are becoming a staple in décor, adding entertainment to any space.”

“Maybe it’s the Boho trend still going strong, or maybe it’s a response to a super-technical world, but vintage or hand-made textiles are huge this year. Just like the ripped-jean phenomenon (your parents can’t believe you actually paid for ripped jeans), it seems the more worn, the better. The more you can see imperfection, or the irregularity of a human hand, the more valuable. I am big sucker for natural materials peppering an otherwise modern setting. Whether it is a vintage rug, artisanal or tribal fabrics or a “patina-ed” leather sofa, even the most minimalist rooms will be given a serious dose of soul.”

Bathtubs are no longer limited to one colour! This summer expect to see them be the star of the washroom in stunning colours. “Matte black is a new dramatic neutral that adds energy to a bathroom. Matte is a tactile finish that evokes the feel and look of cashmere, adding a new dimension, or layer of luxury to a space.”
